The session kicked off with research from Frank Dudley, professor of marketing at Northwestern University and president of the Financial Marketing Institute. Here are some key insights from the summit:
- The core tenets of a dynamic marketing model includes focusing on talent, organization and culture, dynamic brand experiences, product and marketing integration, real-time analytics and more.
- A key marketing challenge is the competition for B2B decision-maker’s time. Given how busy B2B decision-makers are, the panel discussed strategies for developing meaningful content and brand messaging that this target audience would want to engage in despite wearing so many hats.
- Use customer advocacy to drive differentiation. The panel discussed how differentiation was incredibly limited in their respective financial sectors, but how they could use advocacy and testimonials from their own customers to “show” a differentiated brand experience in their marketing.
- Position culture as a differentiator. The panelists all leaned into building internal culture – and helping their target audience experience their brand culture as a way to create more differentiation in a commoditized space.
- There is a relentless quest for driving leads. Driving leads, especially with a challenging target audience, is never easy. The panel talked about investing in roles that could sit between marketing and sales and own CRM and marketing systems to better drive leads. Furthermore, they emphasized the importance of data quality in order to reach their audiences.
