FCS Philadephia Breakfast to feature 2 panels, tacking Gender and Generational challenges faced by financial marketers.

DOORS OPEN AT 7:30am.  PROGRAM BEGINS BY 8:15am.

Our opening panel is called, “Gender Inequality in Marketing: Are Brands Communicating Effectively with Women?” This 30 minute discussion will feature a panel moderated by Shantini Munthree of The Union Marketing Group.

Recent research suggests that at some point during their lives, 95% of women will be their household's primary financial decision-maker. Financial brands may be missing an opportunity to communicate to women as a target audience and as a core segment. This dynamic panel will discuss how brands can help balance today’s inequality in marketing.  

Our second panel will be a 45 minute discussion on “Bridging the Generational Gap in Financial Marketing,” moderated by Berta Aldrich, who has held senior marketing positions at FS Investments and Vanguard.

Dan leads retail client marketing at Vanguard. His team develops and implements marketing strategies aimed at deepening client relationships. His team is also responsible for product marketing strategies and campaign targeting and analysis. Prior to joining Vanguard, Dan led First National Bank’s efforts to create a national footprint through the launch of FNBO Direct. Under Dan’s guidance, FNBO Direct quickly became a national player in the Internet banking space, and a significant contributor to First National Bank’s growth. Earlier, Dan led marketing and analytics at HSBC Direct - driving growth from inception to over $5BN in deposits in less than two years. Formerly, Dan was a member of the Internet Acquisitions team at JPMorgan Chase, responsible for new credit card account acquisition. Dan led a team that managed media planning and buying, partner programs, site design and enhancement, offer development and testing. Prior to joining Chase, Dan was President/Co-Founder of Focint, an Internet Advertising agency. The firm handled online advertising and site design for a wide range of clients including JPMorgan Chase, 4Kids Entertainment, Style.com, and Capital Thinking. Dan’s career began in advertising, with stints at Organic Media and Foote, Cone & Belding, supporting a diverse portfolio of clients and businesses, through both traditional and online marketing programs.

Missy Pohlig is responsible for identifying the issues affecting financial advisors and developing practice management solutions to help advisors run better businesses. She has a special focus on the issues surrounding Generation Y and how to address the needs of younger advisors as well as how to engage millennial investors. Additionally, Missy oversees SEI’s ProcessWise Workflow Program, which provides over 45 step-by-step processes to help advisors automate and streamline their businesses. She also manages SEI’s Business PathFinder Program designed to help financial advisors analyze their practices for mergers, acquisitions, succession, and business planning opportunities. These are amongst the many practice management programs Missy has been focused on and has helped develop for SEI advisors. Missy was named 30 under 30 by LifeHealthPro in 2015 and is currently pursuing the CFP exam. She is a contributing author to SEI’s practice management blog, “Practically Speaking©” writing on a subject she knows well – millennials.

During his 25 years in marketing and sales enablement, David has collected experience at leading financial firms, built a proven record developing and implementing transformational branding strategies. Today, he is a Global Head of Marketing, Viteos Capital Markets Services. Prior to joining the business process services sector David was  senior vice president and head of global banking and markets marketing at HSBC. He has held roles in institutional marketing at T. Rowe Price and also served as a director overseeing institutional global fixed income, foreign exchange and emerging markets equity research marketing at Merrill Lynch. Previous responsibilities in institutional marketing for ADR research at Salomon Smith Barney and investment banking at Goldman Sachs comprise the short list of companies in his career involving the buy, sell and operations sides of financial services. David holds an MBA from Carey Business School at The Johns Hopkins University, a BBA in banking and finance cum laude from Hofstra University.

Berta Aldrich has over 20 years of industry-leading marketing experience serving plan sponsors, investors and advisors.  In her most recent position as CMO at FS Investments, she was responsible for all aspects of marketing, including brand, client experience, education program, advertising, data & analytics and sales integration. 

Prior to FS Investments, she served in a variety of marketing and leadership roles at Vanguard, most recently as Head of Advisor Channel Marketing Strategy and Planning.  She also served as the Head of Marketing Operations, Head of Participant Education and Marketing Executive for full-service Institutional Plan Sponsors.  Prior to joining Vanguard in 2004, Berta spent 13 years at the Principal Financial Group where she led departments responsible for marketing, financial education and underwriting in both the Pension and Group Divisions. Berta is active in the financial marketing community where she is a frequent panelist and expert on the topics of brand and financial education and served as a Board Member for the Mutual Fund Education Association and judge for both the FCS and Gramercy Institute. She volunteers and provides both strategic and motivational leadership to a variety of worthy causes, including serving on the board of Camphill Special School; the Executive Leadership Team for the American Heart Association Go Red for Women Campaign in 2016 and 2017; Co-chaired the annual scholarship drive for Leadership Philadelphia; presides as Co-President for the Downingtown Cheer Association, where she established a breast cancer fundraiser; and is a Eucharistic Minister at St. Elizabeth Parish. She has received numerous awards, including the prestigious FCS Jamie E. Depeau Leadership Award and in 2013, was named one of Gramercy Institutes 20 Rising Stars in Financial Marketing.  Berta received her M.B.A. from St. Joseph’s University where she was inducted into the Alpha Iota Delta Honor Society for academic excellence in Strategy & Statistics and a B.A. in Business, with a concentration in Finance, from Iowa State University. Berta resides in Chester Springs with her husband Mike, an architect, and their two children.
