The panel, to be moderated by MerchantCantos Chairman Matt Shepherd-Smith, will feature corpcomms execs from Goldman Sachs, HSBC and Lazard.
Managing Director, Investment Management Division
David is chief marketing and communications officer of the Investment Management Division (IMD) of Goldman Sachs. Previously, he worked closely with Investment Management Division leadership to develop and implement various strategic initiatives. Before that, David oversaw Media Relations for the firm in the Americas. He joined Goldman Sachs as a managing director in 2010. Prior to joining the Goldman Sachs, David was head of marketing and communications for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at J.P. Morgan from 2008 to 2010. Before joining the banking industry, he was a journalist. David was the editor of international company news, deputy world news editor and senior Wall Street correspondent for the Financial Times, where he worked from 2003 until 2008. During that time, he was also a commentator for National Public Radio’s Marketplace and a frequent contributor to programs on CNBC, CNN, the BBC and other television networks. From 1998 to 2003, David covered Wall Street and the energy industry for Bloomberg News. During the 1990s, he wrote for news outlets in Texas, including Petroleum Argus, an energy industry trade publication, and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. David earned a BA in Political Science from Texas Christian University and an MA in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas, where he serves on the board of the program’s advisory council.

Jenny is an experienced international leader at HSBC, one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organizations. Jenny is Global Head of Digital Communications with an extensive track record of formulating pioneering strategies and delivering results in a challenging market in multinational, multi-location, multi-disciplinary environments. Jenny has over 20 years of experience in the marketing and communications sector and film and TV industry with specialist knowledge in digital platforms and social media marketing. It is the combination of Jenny’s leadership and strategic vision that have led to her successfully working across boundaries and through complexity to deliver results with industry recognition (40+ awards). Jenny is a skilled marketer, respected external speaker and regular industry awards judge.
Senior Vice President, Global Communications
Douglas joined Lazard in 2000 and is a Senior Vice President in Global Communications. He is responsible for the creative execution of all things digital and interactive, and believes that clear and clever design improves just about everything.
Matt is the Chairman of MerchantCantos, the creative team within the Brunswick Group. With more than 25 years of experience within advertising agencies, Matt brings a consumer communications perspective to predominantly corporate communications challenges, and believes passionately in the importance of creativity in business. Matt has also worked within client companies, most recently as Global Brand Director at Blinkbox, the digital entertainment company previously owned by Tesco. He began his advertising career at Lintas, followed by Leo Burnett and then Bates Dorland, before joining TBWA in 1998. He spent 11 years helping it to become one of the UK’s most awarded creative agencies with clients including Adidas, Apple, Sony PlayStation, Mars, John Smith’s and Nissan. He was appointed CEO of the agency in 2006. He has also run his own consultancy specializing in brand strategy and design.
