The FCS Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee (DISC) is excited to continue the quarterly FCS Diversity & Inclusion Forum speaker series. With the goal of 'Making A Difference,' FCS DIF events feature exclusive conversations with marketing and media professionals in one-on-one or in panel discussions.
On June 15th, we will be celebrating Pride Month with "Trials, Tribulations and Triumph," a free virtual event featuring an in-depth conversation with three industry professionals with distinct voices in our community. Shae Carroll, Forbes' Director of Social Sales, will moderate our panel, which will include:

Chief Marketing Officer
As Chief Marketing Officer, Mr. Abel is responsible for all strategic brand architecture and marketing development for Dynasty Financial Partners. He leverages new marketing platforms, technology and data to build awareness and heighten customer value across relevant paid, owned and earned channels. This includes driving engagement across the growing social media landscape, developing industry-leading thought leadership content for distribution, expanding efforts in mobile and video as well as optimizing website and search engine best practices. In addition, he is the Head of Diversity and Inclusion at Dynasty and partners across our internal teams and client Network to help build a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace while supporting initiatives for education and financial literacy. Mr. Abel joined Dynasty from Google where he was Head of Industry, Financial Services overseeing enterprise relationships with leading financial services firms. Prior to this role, he has held executive marketing roles at JPMorgan Chase and BlackRock. Mr. Abel has been actively involved in the advertising and marketing community, helping start the Bay Area Interactive Group and serving two terms on the Executive Board of Directors of the Financial Communications Society. He has also been involved with the Association of National Advertisers, Ad Council and Interactive Advertising Bureau. Mr. Abel graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BA in Communications.
VP, Senior Marketing Manager
Genesis Garcia is a Vice President for BNY Mellon Pershing. She is the Senior Marketing Manager for the Latin America and Asia Pacific Client Relationship teams. Through her work she develops global and multi-lingual content, brand and social strategy to drive client engagement and organic growth. As an active leader in the LGBT+ community, Genesis sits on the BNY Mellon Global Operating Committee for PRISM, their LGBT ERG. She is also part of the Executive Committee within Open Finance, a non-profit network driving forward LGBT+ equality in the financial services sector. Additionally, Genesis is a Programming Board member for StartOut, a non-profit organization that champions LGBT+ entrepreneurs. She co-leads efforts for StartOut’s National Equity Summits. In 2019 and 2020, she was featured as an OUTstanding LGBT+ Role Model, supported by Yahoo Finance. Genesis earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Barnard College. She sits on the board for the Alpha Delta Phi Literary Society at Columbia University.
Vice President, Global Consumer Marketing
Gregory Lamar Lewis is a global marketer with over a decade of experience designing integrated campaigns for leading brands that drive long-term brand loyalty with consumers across the globe. In his current role as Vice President, Global Consumer Marketing at Citi, he is focused on creating innovative and impactful campaigns that differentiate Citi’s Industry leading products and services, and providing strategic executional direction that drives global marketing strategy. Prior to joining Citi, he was an Advertising Agency Executive, Brand Strategist, Experiential Marketer & Cultural Engineer working at various leading agencies in NYC to help drive strategy and design multi-channel marketing campaigns/events for various brands such as: American Express OPEN, L’Oréal, Sephora, Covergirl, Macys, Nordstrom/Sarah Jessica Parker (SJP), Luxottica, Tableau, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Tylenol and Conde Nast. Mr. Lewis is a member of the Citi Black Heritage and Citi Pride Network at Citi and has worked on various DE&I initiatives within the organization, such as launching the Citi True Name Feature in 2019 in partnership with Mastercard, a feature that offers transgender and non-binary people the ability to use their chosen name on their eligible credit cards. In addition, he is also involved with the Association of National Advertisers/SeeHer movement to increase positive portrayals of women/girls in media. Mr. Lewis graduated from Johnson & Wales University with a BA in Marketing. As a global marketer and champion of equality and inclusion, he has an incredible opportunity and obligation to use his voice and platform to help engineer culture, galvanize movements, inspire empathy, compassion, and to hopefully inspire others to do the same.
Director of Social Sales
Shae Carroll is the Director of Social Sales at Forbes, driving social media partnerships worldwide for the Forbes brand. Over the four years that Carroll has been at Forbes, he’s focused on building new social media offerings for strategic revenue partners. He works to integrate social media into digital content, video, and live/virtual events, ultimately helping some of the world's largest brands bring storytelling to life. Over a decade in the industry, Shae has worked in strategy and analytics, most recently at Saatchi & Saatchi. There, he lead multi-channel strategies across brands such as Tide, Pampers, LUVS, Tecate, Go-Gurt, Head & Shoulders, and Walmart. Shae is a proud graduate of Oklahoma State University where he studied Public Relations and Advertising. He currently lives in Philadelphia with his husband and dog, Ira.
