Cognito: Account Manager

As an account manager you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the day-to-day delivery of PR/ Integrated marketing and digital/social accounts ensuring we deliver activity to goals and standards, on time, on budget and to the Cognito standard. You will be responsible for delivering results to the client, all elements of account management and for the account’s performance. You will supervise an Account Executive, if required, ensuring they receive the guidance necessary to carry out their work efficiently and to the correct standard.

General Responsibilities:

  • Handling a number client retainers and projects, developing solid working relationships with your clients through regular and pro-active contact
  • Managing the workload and development of Account Executives and Graduate Associates
  • Liaison and collaboration with international offices/colleagues and client contacts
  • Working on new business pitches as required

Specific Responsibilities:

Account Management

  • Building solid working relationships with clients/ suppliers
  • Managing day-to-day client relationships, providing strategic comms guidance where necessary
  • Ensuring specific PR or integrated account activity is managed efficiently, to deadline and budgets
  • Ensuring client reporting is carried out as required
  • Introducing appropriate Cognito services to clients to maximize opportunities
  • Preparing estimates, drafting proposals and getting client agreement
  • Ensuring billing is completed promptly and accurately
  • Monitoring own time spent on account in line with the rest of the team
  • Ensuring all client administration is completed to client and Cognito standard

PR/Integrated work

  • Working with the account teams both locally and internationally to determine how best the client’s business objectives can be met
  • Identifying objectives to be achieved and the best comms channel to achieve them
  • Managing projects as requested by clients including but not limited to: media relations, training, social media management/ campaigns, marketing and events
  • Managing the approval process with clients/client’s clients for all materials drafted
  • Driving process internally and externally to deliver a high-standard of work, no matter the project
  • Ensuring all materials are delivered to the client on time and to the highest standard
  • Monitoring progress of projects/ campaigns and making recommendations for modifications where appropriate

Personal specification:

  • Strong knowledge of the financial markets
  • Strong knowledge of financial technology markets
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Excellent media contact book in the financial and financial technology space both nationals and trade
  • Minimum three years PR/Marketing experience (digital/ social is a bonus but not essential)
  • Agency experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A proven track record in managing several projects at the same time
  • Minimum supervision required to manage projects
  • A team player with the ability to demonstrate enthusiasm, motivation and commitment with initiative and a persuasive manner
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • High level of creativity, ability to think “outside the box” and to multi-task
  • Solid leadership skills and attributes
