Investopedia and The Balance: Editor, Special Projects
Investopedia and The Balance, two of the largest finance websites reaching over 31 million readers every month, are seeking an editor of special projects to join our teams of financial experts and journalists. The perfect candidate must have deep experience with trading and investing financial content and with putting together large editorial features, events, and packages of original content.
About the Role:
You will be a special projects manager and member of the editorial teams for both The Balance and Investopedia. While collaborating with editors on ideation and content plans, you will launch and maintain editorial tentpoles uniquely designed to showcase our work around major topics like investing in volatile markets, financial literacy, and retirement.
You should be able to navigate complicated finance topics and present them in a way that is understandable for audiences from all backgrounds. You will partner with our Editor, Custom Content to position editorial tentpoles in response to client briefs and provide financial industry expertise and knowledge of client business objectives to help frame tentpoles to meet client goals.
As the project manager for the editorial and creative teams on these projects, you will strategize and execute all elements of the initiatives. This will include recruiting freelancers, managing budgets, and managing the assignments to freelance writers and copy editors.
You must be a storyteller with a passion for financial content, with a specific background in trading and investing content. You must be plugged in to what's happening in the markets, and you should have a never-ending list of ideas for creating compelling financial education for readers. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated experience editing for well-recognized outlets on these topics.
- 3-5+ years of experience publishing financial content in well-respected outlets.
- Excellent project management skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, and verbal/written communication skills.
- Strong editorial skills top editing and writing engaging, SEO-friendly content
- Previous experience partnering successfully with ad sales a plus.
- A keen sense of how to develop unique editorial tentpoles projects and experience ideating and executing special projects from start to finish.
