Our commitment to philanthropic endeavors is part of our mission, and is a key reason to get involved with FCS.
THE FCS RACE FOR KIDS
Our main charitable fundraising activity remains our annual FCS Race for Kids, a ski weekend/marketing summit held each January in Stowe, Vermont. The event supports Hope and Heroes Children’s Cancer Fund, Downey Side Adoption Agency, and Make A Wish Foundation of Vermont. Anchored by multiple "Fireside Forum" sessions over three days, where senior financial marketers discuss industry trends for the coming year, the weekend activities include skiing, snowboarding, raffles, auctions, and more. The FCS also welcomes representatives and families of each charity, who share their personal stories with the FCS members and their families, who number more than 300. This perennial support has resulted in a total donation to these three charities to over $2,425,000, since 2000 (the year the FCS became title sponsor of the event).

HOPE & HEROES COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER
Hope & Heroes is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit charity dedicated to helping children with cancer and their families. DOWNEY SIDE ADOPTION AGENCY
Downey Side, founded in 1967, is a non-sectarian, non-profit agency in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Minnesota. Downey Side plays the role of a licensed adoption agency placing older children in loving homes who would otherwise remain homeless.
THE MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION OF VERMONT
Make-A-Wish Vermont’s mission is to create life-changing wishes for children facing critical illnesses. We offer children a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have anything they could want, to meet anyone they choose, to go anywhere in the world, or to be whomever they would like! Wish kids are limited only by their imagination. Wishes not only assist in the healing process, they also impact and involve entire communities. The wish experience is about more than just one moment in time, it is a gift that often serves as a transformational change in the lives of all those who are involved. Since its inception in 1989, Make-A-Wish Vermont has granted more than 800 wishes to Vermont children.
FCS Chicago supports Econ Illinois, a nonprofit organization that provides economic and personal finance education resources to K-12 Illinois schools.
Econ Illinois delivers teacher training and student programs, such as The Stock Market Game, reaching approximately 150,000 students and 2,500 K-12 grade teachers annually in nearly 900 school districts.
Research into how children learn indicates they are capable of acquiring basic money concepts long before they enter school. With this in mind, Econ Illinois provides resources that begin with kindergarten and continue through high school. Through monetary gifts at a young age to jobs as teenagers, kids are earning and spending money. Teaching children how to make wise financial choices at a young age will benefit them now and throughout their lives.

BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF THE BAY AREA
The Board of Directors of FCS WEST has chosen Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area as the beneficiary of our San Francisco based activities. To learn more about the organization, we encourage you to watch the “Match Videos.” Kimberly Foss, BBBSBA’s Director of Individual Giving says, “These videos represent why each of us come into work everyday and why we are all so passionate about our organization and our jobs.”
JDRF (JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION)
JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Our strength lies in our exclusive focus and singular influence on the worldwide effort to end T1D.
JDRF works every day to change the reality of this disease for millions of people—and to prevent anyone else from ever knowing it—by funding research, advocating for government support of research and new therapies, ensuring new therapies come to market and connecting and engaging the T1D community. Founded by parents determined to find a cure for their children with T1D, JDRF expanded through grassroots fundraising and advocacy efforts to become a powerhouse in the scientific community with dozens of U.S. locations and six international affiliates. We’ve funded more than $2 billion in research to date and made significant progress in understanding and fighting the disease. We must keep up the pace of funding so progress doesn’t slow or stop entirely.
FCS YMC NYC
RONALD McDONALD HOUSE
Many families travel far from home and spend several weeks or months to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children – a long time to be away or to divide a family. And, for children facing a serious medical crisis, nothing seems scarier than not having mom and dad close by for love and support. A Ronald McDonald House provides a place for families to call home so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little to no cost.
Our Houses are built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest. We believe that when a child is hospitalized the love and support of family is as powerful as the strongest medicine prescribed.
In addition to supporting RMHC financially, FCS YMC organizes service opportunities for its members to volunteer at the NYC main location.
