Recap
On October 10th, our monthly Members Only Virtual Event featured a very dynamic conversation between Arielle Gross Samuels, Managing Director and Global Head of Marketing at Blackstone and Johanna Mayer-Jones, Chief Advertising Officer at The Washington Post.
Johanna offered insightful questions that invited Arielle to share some key learnings about her marketing role at the world’s largest alternative asset manager — having previously worked at Meta (Facebook) for nearly 10 years. But as a self-described “technologist, futurist, and optimist,” Arielle was drawn to the similarities of working for another founder-led, mission-driven organization where a proliferation of data could be an advantage for marketing.
Arielle also shared with our audience some thoughts on the strategy behind her firm’s recent creation of a new tagline (“Build with Blackstone”) and supporting brand platform, describing the designed flexibility for audience relevance. For example, when addressing financial advisors, the tagline becomes “Build Wealth with Blackstone,” or for recruiting purposes, the tagline becomes “Build Your Career with Blackstone.”

In gratitude to Arielle, the FCS donated $1,000 to the children’s charity of her choice: Girl Up, a leadership initiative from the United Nations Foundation.
