25th Annual FCS Charity Golf Tournament & Tennis Day

Recap

The 25th annual FCS Charity Golf Tournament & Tennis Day was hosted at the Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle, New York, on July 29, 2024. With 84 golfers and 20 tennis players, it was a successful day filled with sports, networking, and awards!

With a double match on all individual donations, the FCS raised $6,660 for our three Race For Kids charities: Hope & Heroes, Downey Side, and Make-A-Wish.

The day began with a breakfast reception sponsored by The New York Times, and finished with a BBQ reception sponsored by FOX Business. In-between, golf and tennis players alike were engaged in friendly competition in a variety of contests. For more sustenance, a hot dog/beer cart was sponsored by International Data Group (IDG).

On Wykagyls’ famed golf course, the competition was fierce. For the first time in our outings there, we had a 3-way match of cards to determine the top 3 winners! First place went to the foursome of Rob Pfeiffer (Fox News Media), Mike Mohn (Fox News Media), Adam Danko (Hearts & Science), and Rob Pearsall (Omnicom). Second place went to Justin Manoni (Reuters), Michael Conte (Reuters), Chris Paganelli (Stifel Financial Corporation), and Griffin Hayden (Ascot). And third was won by Jon Rubin (Meetinghouse Productions), Travis Deak (Fox News Media), Zach Dubin (Zenith), and Greg Spina (Spark Foundry).

The 19th Hole Shootout, sponsored by Dianomi, was won by IBM’s Noah Syken who beat out a record number of finalists. AIG’s Dan Gallagher won the Driving Range Contest, sponsored by 2112 Communications. And the Putting Contest, sponsored by Yahoo! Finance, was won by Business Insider’s Anthony DeMaio, following a tiebreaking playoff putt. Closest to the Pin contests, sponsored by Dotdash Meredith, were won by Fox News Media’s Michael Mohn (Men) and Yahoo Finance’s Katy Lawrence (Ladies). The Longest Drive award, sponsored by FOX Business, was won by Ascot Group’s Griffith Hayden (Men) and Fora Travel’s Elizabeth O’Brien (Ladies).

Our Tennis Day saw a record-breaking 20 players take to the courts who a clinic with the club pro and a round robin competition. The tennis awards, sponsored by VDX.tv, included: the Tennis Olympics won by Nativo’s Jaret Posmentier and Fox News Media’s Stacey Greenman, and the Tennis Best in Show won by Wall Street Journal’s Chris Gibbons and VDX.tv’s Mackenzie Wiedecker.

Our thanks to the event’s additional sponsors Capitvate, Reuters, LoopMe, and MNI, and a big shout out to 2112 Communications and FOX Business who each donated sleeves of golf balls.

It’s time to celebrate another FCS milestone as we head back to the Wykagyl Country Club for the 25th Annual FCS Charity Golf Tournament & Tennis Day. We will again bring together our two groups of sports enthusiasts for a great day of camaraderie, friendly competition and fundraising.

Here’s the agenda for a full day of activities at the FCS outing.

  • 10:30am  REGISTRATION, LUNCH, DRIVING RANGE
  • 11:00pm  PUTTING CONTEST & DRIVING RANGE CONTEST
  • 12:00pm  SHOTGUN START FOR THE GOLF SCRAMBLE TOURNEY
  • 1:00pm  TENNIS CLINIC & ROUND ROBIN TOURNEY
  • Tennis and Golf immediately followed by our COCKTAIL and BBQ RECEPTION
  • 19th HOLE SHOOTOUT for qualifying golfers will be held around 5:30pm.
  • 6:00pm AWARDS and PRIZES

The day begins with a hearty brunch, sponsored by The New York Times, the driving range — where there will be an accuracy contest, sponsored by 2112 Communications — and a tantalizing putting contest, sponsored by Yahoo Finance. There will be additional skill contests during the golf tourney, including Longest Drive (Men / Women) sponsored by FOX Business, and Closest to the Pin sponsored by Dotdash Meredith. On the course, you’ll find a hot dog/beer cart, sponsored by IDG (first time sponsor!) — plus additional snacks/beer. We’ll also have our traditional 19th Hole Shoot-out Contest, sponsored by Dianomi. Among the giveaways at the event will be sleeves of golf balls sponsored by 2112 Communications.

  • Note: there is a $25 per person fee to be eligible to participate in all of the Contests. The FCS will match the collected Contest Fees 2-to-1, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to our three Race for Kids charities: Make-A-Wish of Vermont, Hope & Heroes Columbia University Medical Center, and Downey Side Adoption Agency. Thank you for helping our fundraising efforts.

Golfers reserving foursomes are invited to upgrade to a Corporate Sponsorship with our appreciation! Our thanks to corporate sponsors: Captivate, LoopMe, MNI, and Reuters.

Tennis players will enjoy three hours of play, including a one-hour clinic led by the Club’s tennis pro. [Note: all whites are NOT required for tennis attire at the Club.] While the tennis “competition” will emphasize fun, there will be prizes. The tennis action and awards are sponsored by VDX.tv.

After golf and tennis, we’ll announce winners and prizes during a BBQ buffet/cocktail reception, sponsored by FOX Business.
