Carol Stevens, VideoLink SPEAKER BIOS Lesley Bielby Chief Strategy Officer Hill Holliday Lesley recently joined Hill Holliday as Chief Strategy Officer. The move marks a return for Lesley: she was Chief Strategy Officer at Hill Holliday from 2004 to 2010, where she successfully led departments in Boston and New York with a focus on new business development. Wins during her tenure included Rockport, Smith Barney, Cleveland Clinic, Chili’s, Toys“R”Us, The American Red Cross, Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, and Novartis. Most recently Lesley was Chief Strategy Officer at DiMassimo Goldstein in New York, as well as Managing Director of Propolis, the in-house brand-consulting and consumer research company. In these roles, she led strategy for iconic brands such as Reader’s Digest, Sallie Mae, Weight Watchers, and Calvin Klein globally, as well as entrepreneurial brands such as TradeStation, Online Trading Academy, and Caregiverhomes.com. Over the last several years, Lesley has been focused on a multidisciplinary approach to strategic planning — working closely with media, social, digital strategy, and UX to optimize understanding of customer mindset, attitudes, and behaviors.
Rhett Brackeen Marketing Director Society of Grownups (a MassMutual education initiative) Rhett Brackeen is the Marketing Director at Society of Grownups. He is responsible for building the marketing organization, growing the business, building the brand, and helping on whatever else is needed in the startup. Society of Grownups is a company that aims to open up the conversation around money and educate people on the basics of personal finance. Before joining Society of Grownups, Rhett worked in a variety of marketing roles with major brands such as ING DIRECT, Capital One, Barclays, GSK, Aramark and 3M. Early on, he was primarily focused on digital marketing and analytics, but expanded to brand and marketing strategy. Today Rhett is obsessed with creating great experiences, and not wasting a customer's time. Rhett obtained his MBA from Drexel University and his BA in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma. He began his career as a journalist.
Daniel Egan Director of Behavioral Finance and Investing Betterment Daniel Egan is the Director of Behavioral Finance and Investing at Betterment. He is responsible for maximizing Betterment’s customers’ returns, in terms of both investment optimization and behaviorally informed design. He oversees a team of quantitative investment experts and behavioral finance experts. Dan holds a B.A. with Distinction in Economics from Boston University and an M.Sc. in Decision Science from the London School of Economics. Dan’s career includes health economics research at the University of Pennsylvania and a stint at corporate finance advisory firm Chiliogon in the UK (FSA authorised). Previous to Betterment, he helped establish the quantitative behavioral finance team at Barclays Wealth in 2007, working in both Europe and the U.S.
Michael Ellison President Corporate Insight, Inc. Michael Ellison is President of Corporate Insight, Inc., which specializes in market research and competitive analysis for the financial services industry. The firm was founded in the early '90s to address the competitive research needs of marketing executives in the financial services space, developing the first Broker Monitor Report in 1995. In 1996, when financial services firms began to adopt and leverage the Internet as a sales and service channel, Michael joined Corporate Insight to launch e-Monitor, which focuses on the brokerage industry's use of the Internet as a primary communications vehicle to interact with their clients. Following the success of e-Monitor, the firm began covering the mutual fund, banking, card, annuity, life insurance, and P&C insurance industries and is now the recognized leader in competitive research for the financial services industry. Prior to joining Corporate Insight, Michael was an associate at CommScan (now Dealogic), which provides investment banks, asset managers and corporations with in-depth transaction information and analysis on the equity and fixed income capital markets, credit markets and the mergers and acquisitions market. Before CommScan, Michael was a performance measurement analyst at Effron Enterprises (now informa), which provides portfolio accounting services to pension funds and the brokerage industry. Michael holds a bachelor's degree in Marketing and Finance from Syracuse University.
Ross Ozer Senior Vice President, Practice Management and Consulting Fidelity Investments Ross Ozer is senior vice president, Practice Management and Consulting for Fidelity Clearing and Custody, a Fidelity Investments company. In this role, he is responsible for the vision and strategy for a variety of practice management programs and consulting activities with the goal of helping firms build future ready businesses. Prior to this role, Ross was chief marketing officer for Fidelity Institutional Wealth Services (IWS) where he was responsible for comprehensive go-to-market strategies including all branding, advertising, content and digital marketing, events and thought leadership activities. Most notably, Ross was the architect of the division’s Be Greater® strategy including the launch of Be Greater: Why Good Enough is No Longer an Option, a comprehensive guide on how RIAs can build great businesses. A 22 year veteran at Fidelity, Ross held several roles prior to his work with IWS, including leading product management and web analytics for Fidelity.com. Before joining Fidelity, Ross was a management consultant for Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). In this role, he specialized in business process reengineering and systems integration for the financial services industry. Ross received a Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY at Buffalo and an MBA from Boston College.
Matt Vella Assistant Managing Editor TIME Matt Vella is an assistant managing editor for TIME. He is responsible for business, technology and innovation coverage across all platforms. In addition to frequently editing cover stories, he is responsible for special issues such as the annual Answers Issue and Year-Ahead Issue. He came to TIME from Fortune, where he directed technology coverage in print and online—a role that included editing the magazine’s technology section along with features and special packages like the annual Future issue. Prior to joining Fortune in 2011, he worked for AOL, where, as a managing editor, he helped integrate the digital newsrooms after AOL’s purchase of the Huffington Post. Previously, he was a reporter at Businessweek, working in New York City and Paris. He is the winner of a New York Press Club Award for feature writing, a Telly Award for original web video and a Webby Award honoree. He received a B.A. in politics from Oberlin College.
