"Millennials with Money" Research & Panel Luncheon



We open 2019 in New York with a research-driven luncheon on "Millennials with Money."  Edelman, our content partner for this event, will present their new research on the topic.

As a follow-up to Edelman's deep-dive study in 2016 on this generation’s relationship with money and financial services, the new study revisits these dynamics now that Millennials are beginning to approach their 40s, starting and growing families and paying more attention to growing their wealth. This research is based on a survey of 1,000 affluent Millennials (defined here as having at least $50K in investable assets or $100K in individual or joint income) with comparison groups of non-affluent Millennials and affluent Gen Xers.

Russ Messner, who is the General Manager for the Financial Services practice at Edelman, will moderate a panel discussion with the marketing leaders of three companies with distinctive interests in wealthy Millennials.

Aditi Javeri Gokhale is chief marketing officer and executive officer at Northwestern Mutual, the largest US provider of life insurance and manager of more than $265 billion in assets. She is overseeing a client transformation to help people achieve financial security. Through data-driven creative and a high-impact marketing strategy, she aims to differentiate the Northwestern Mutual brand and its products in the marketplace, while deepening client engagement. She joined Northwestern Mutual in April 2016, as chief marketing officer of LearnVest, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Northwestern Mutual, while also responsible for Northwestern Mutual’s consumer digital marketing. Prior to joining Northwestern Mutual, Gokhale served as the chief marketing officer for Shutterstock, a leading provider of digital imagery licensing. She also served in several senior marketing leadership roles at leading brands, including Nutrisystem; Travelocity; and American Express. A passionate advocate for challenging the status quo, Aditi is a member of the Marketing 50 and The Wall Street Journal CMO Council. She was recently recognized by Forbes as one of the “top 50 CMOs who are redefining the top marketing role and driving its evolution.” She is a sought-after speaker and is frequently quoted as a marketing trendsetter in publications such as Adweek, Digiday, Forbes and The Wall Street Journal. Aditi received her MBA in management from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She also received her Bachelor of Science degree from MIT, majoring in management science and minoring in economics. Aditi lives in New York with her husband Sameer and their son.

EVP, Worldwide Communications


Christine Elliott is the executive vice president for Worldwide Communications at Mastercard with responsibility for Corporate, Internal, External and Digital communications for the Company. Ms. Elliott joined Mastercard from S&P Global where she served as chief communications officer with responsibility for iconic brands including J.D. Power, Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services and S&P Dow Jones Indices as well as overall corporate communications. Prior to joining S&P, Ms. Elliott spent 13 years at the American Express Company.  During that time she held roles managing worldwide communications strategy for the Global Merchant Services and Global Corporate Payments divisions.  Most recently, she served as the chief communications officer for the American Express Global Business Travel joint venture. Prior to joining American Express, Ms. Elliott worked for global public relations firms Hill & Knowlton and PR21.  She began her career in television news, where she was an associate producer for ABC News in Washington, DC and the New York headquarters. Ms. Elliott holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Political Science from the University of Michigan and earned an Emmy award for ABC News’ Special Coverage of the Millennial New Year’s Eve.

Crescent Crypto Asset Management

Ali founded Crescent Crypto Asset Management to fill the demand for quality passive investment vehicles in the cryptocurrency market. Prior to Crescent Crypto Ali was an associate at a NY based family office, and was responsible for spearheading VC opportunities. Prior to that, Ali was a venture analyst at Fairview Capital Partners, and a member of the investment team. He focused on deal sourcing, due diligence, valuations, and investment monitoring for Fairview’s venture capital portfolio. Mr. Hassan started his career as an analyst at Goldman Sachs where his responsibilities included trading and implementing institutional asset management mandates. He invested across the spectrum of traditional asset classes, and lead the team's capital markets efforts in the syndicate business. He focused on helping clients of the firm access Goldman-advised IPOs and secondary market deals. Prior to Goldman, Ali founded and sold Swim Academy, an online marketplace that connected former NCAA swimmers with potential students for private swimming instruction. Ali graduated Summa Cum Laude with an Honors B.S. in International Trade and Economics from Saint Peter’s University, writing his senior thesis on the socio-economic and political impact of oil in Egypt. Ali was also captain of the university's NCAA Division I swim team.

Russ Messner is the General Manager of Edelman’s New York Financial Services practice, helping clients earn trust in today’s turbulent world. In his current role, Russ partners with BNY Mellon, Pershing, Oppenheimer, and IFAC on their brand development, digital transformation, and media relations. For the previous 5 years, Russ led the marketing and communication efforts on behalf of BlackRock and iShares for WPP.  In that role, he helped the world’s largest asset management firm develop their digital transformation strategy, build global marketing models, implement  acquisition & retention programs, expand into new geographies / disciplines, and launch big brand ideas. He also has experience in brokerage (E*TRADE), healthcare (J&J, Bayer, Genentech), hospitality and travel (Marriot, United), food and beverage (Pinnacle Foods, Guinness), and FMCG (P&G, Mars).  This includes leadership roles at notable advertising agencies, including BBDO, DDB, and Grey. Russ has a Master’s in International Business from Norges Handelshoyskole in Norway.  His global experience includes helping Fortune 500 companies develop their marketing and communicator strategies, as well as their organizational capacity, in emerging markets across Latin America, Asia and Eastern Europe.  Russ has lived in New York, San Francisco, London, Paris, Warsaw, Bergen and Istanbul – as well as a brief stint in Santiago, Chile.
