The FCS is deeply saddened to announce the loss of one of our Board Directors, Hayward Henderson.
Hayward passed away on March 29, 2018.
There will be a service – a “Celebration of Hayward Henderson’s Life” – on Sunday, April 15th, 11am-1pm, at the Frank R Bell Funeral Home, 536 Sterling Place, Brooklyn, New York.
Hayward was beloved by his fellow Directors for his strong work ethic, selfless spirit of volunteerism, and good sense of humor. For the FCS, he was quick to raise his hand to help out, whether it was working registration for countless luncheons at the New York Yacht Club or even driving Phil Sievers, our photographer-in-residence, around Wykagyl Country Club all day in a golf cart to take foursome photos. He was a longstanding co-chair of our Financial Marketer of the Year (FMY) Committee, and co-chaired the Portfolio Gala in 2015.
He was dedicated to the Board, to our events, and especially to our philanthropic mission and the charities we support.
Hayward joined the FCS Board in January 2007; at the time, he worked for the International Herald Tribune. He had previously worked at The New York Times and WQXR-FM. He went on to work for Asset International, asset.tv, Investis, and Pitchbook Data. Since January of this year, he was serving as a special advisor to the CEO & Chairman of Career Communications Group.
Hayward had also served as an Adjunct Professor at his alma mater, State University of New York, Fashion Institute of Technology, lecturing and teaching courses on marketing, communications, promotion, advertising, direct marketing and interactive marketing.
Hayward had joined the FCS back in the ‘80s and was proud to show everyone that he still carried an original FCS membership card in his wallet.
His fellow Board Directors teased him for consistently showing up late at our monthly Board meetings. Now, our hearts break knowing that he won’t be joining us again.
